About Gramanator

What features make Gramanator effective for Spanish grammar training?

What makes Gramanator effective is not any single feature - it's the system. Grammar construction highlights teach you to see sentence structure before you answer. Five exercise types train each grammar rule from recognition through to full typed production. Personalized workout sessions build sessions around your actual performance gaps, not a generic curriculum. Mistake-focused repetition keeps returning to weak patterns until they're reliable under time pressure. A personalized progress report, unlocked after 50 exercises and updated weekly, gives you full visibility into what's improving and what still needs work. Every mechanic serves the same goal: turning grammar knowledge into automatic recall that holds up in a real conversation. And it doesn't stop at grammar. Every exercise includes sentence translation, so unfamiliar phrases you train with don't disappear after the drill - they stay available for review, letting you build and practice new vocabulary within the grammar structures where it naturally appears.

What exactly is Gramanator?

Gramanator is an intensive Spanish grammar training system — not a learning app, but a training system. The core idea is that knowing a grammar rule and being able to use it automatically in conversation are two completely different things. Most apps stop at knowledge. Gramanator trains you past it, through structured drills, real-life contexts, and targeted repetition, until grammar stops being something you think about and becomes something you just do.

What do you mean by the "Grammar Gym"?

The gym metaphor is deliberate. You don't build physical fitness by reading about exercise — you build it by repeating movement under controlled stress until your body adapts. Language works the same way. Gramanator applies that principle to Spanish grammar: short, structured, high-repetition training sessions designed to build automatic recall, not just comprehension. If you want to understand Spanish, read a textbook. If you want to speak it without freezing, train it.

Why is it called a "training system" and not a learning app?

Because the goal is performance, not knowledge. By the time most adult learners arrive at Gramanator, they already know some Spanish — from school, from Duolingo, from a class. The problem isn't that they don't know the rules. The problem is that those rules aren't automatic enough to survive a real conversation. Gramanator picks up where learning stops.

How it compares

How does Gramanator compare to Duolingo and Babbel?

Duolingo, Babbel, and Gramanator serve different stages of the same journey - and confusing them is one of the most common mistakes adult learners make when choosing a tool. Duolingo is habit infrastructure. Its streaks, XP, and short game-style sessions are engineered to keep you returning daily, which is genuinely valuable in the early stages of learning. What it doesn't build is grammatical automaticity - you can maintain a 500-day streak and still freeze in a real conversation. Babbel is a structured course. It teaches grammar through guided lessons with clear explanations and conversational framing. It's closer to a self-paced class than a drill system, which makes it useful for understanding how Spanish works but less effective at training the speed and automaticity that real speech demands. Gramanator picks up where both leave off. By the time a learner arrives at Gramanator, they typically already understand the rules - from Duolingo, Babbel, school, or a tutor. The problem is that understanding a rule and producing it automatically under conversational pressure are completely different skills. Gramanator trains the second one: through five structured exercise types, timed workouts, grammar construction highlights, and mistake-focused repetition until patterns become reflexes, not rules to recall. Simple framework: use Duolingo to build the habit, Babbel to understand the structure, Gramanator to make both automatic.

How is Gramanator different from Duolingo?

Duolingo is built around streaks, gamification, and broad vocabulary exposure — it's excellent for building motivation and getting started. Gramanator is built around structured repetition of grammar patterns until they become automatic. The two apps solve different problems. If you've been using Duolingo for a year and still freeze in real conversations, Gramanator is what comes next.

Is Gramanator better than taking a class or working with a tutor?

Classes and tutors are excellent at teaching you how Spanish works — grammar rules, explanations, corrections. Gramanator doesn't replace that. What it does differently is the volume and structure of repetition: a tutor session gives you 10–15 minutes of grammar practice embedded in conversation; Gramanator gives you focused drilling on exactly the patterns you struggle with, as many times as you need, on your own schedule. They work well together.

What's the science behind the methodology?

Gramanator's approach maps to well-established second language acquisition research — particularly DeKeyser's Skill Acquisition Theory (which explains how declarative knowledge becomes automatic through practice) and McLaughlin's Automaticity Theory. Both support the idea that grammar fluency isn't memorized, it's trained. The structured repetition, timed workouts, and mistake-focused practice in Gramanator are direct applications of this research.

Who it's for

Is Gramanator suitable for casual learners looking for easy grammar practice?

Gramanator is the right tool if you're serious about making Spanish grammar automatic - not just familiar. If you're past the beginner stage and frustrated that your grammar knowledge doesn't hold up in actual conversations, Gramanator addresses that directly. Casual learners looking for a low-effort habit app will find it demanding - by design.

Who is Gramanator built for?

Serious adult learners at A1–B2 level who already have a foundation in Spanish but want to make it automatic. If you're a complete beginner, start with a class or Duolingo first — you'll get more out of Gramanator once you have a base to train from.

I'm a B2 learner — is Gramanator still useful for me?

Yes. Even at B2, most learners have gaps — specific tenses, subjunctive patterns, complex sentence structures — that feel shaky under conversation pressure. Gramanator's skill-based training paths let you isolate exactly those areas and drill them until they're automatic.

Will Gramanator help me pass DELE, SIELE or CEFR exams?

The A1–B2 structure aligns with CEFR levels, and drilling grammar accuracy and speed directly supports exam performance. That said, Gramanator is not specifically designed as an exam prep tool — it's built for conversational automaticity first. Most exam candidates use it as a grammar-training complement to a dedicated exam course.

How it works

What are grammar clues and instant feedback ?

Grammar clues highlight key parts of each sentence — tap any one to see how the grammar rule applies in that specific context. They teach you where to look, not just what to choose. Answer incorrectly and you get a clear explanation of why the right answer is right. Over time, you stop guessing and start seeing how Spanish sentences are built. Turn clues on or off in your profile settings to adjust the level of support.

What types of exercises are there?

10,000+ structured drills covering targeted grammar topics through real-life contexts — from everyday situations (supermarket, gym, ordering food) to more advanced settings (work, banking, formal writing). All exercises are organized by grammar topic and CEFR level (A1–B2), so you can drill exactly what you need, with enough volume to actually internalize each pattern. On top of that, short daily workouts of varying difficulty target specific skills — verb tense conjugation, gender agreement, connectors, prepositions, and more — dynamically calibrated to your performance and past errors.

What does a workout session look like?

Workout sessions are skill-based and personalized. Our algorithm picks exercises based on your level, your recent errors, and the specific skills you need to strengthen (verb conjugation, gender agreement, prepositions, connectors, etc.), then times them to build speed alongside accuracy. You stay in control: pick a short daily workout (5–10 minutes) to keep momentum, or switch to a deep-focus drill on a specific grammar topic when you want to push volume and truly master a pattern. Either way, sessions are short, focused, and high-repetition — the opposite of long passive lessons.

How does the mistake repetition system work?

Every error you make is saved and analyzed. Once you finish a topic, you can jump straight into an error-review session that targets only the mistakes you made there — so weak patterns get retrained in context before they stick. That same error data also feeds your personalized daily workouts (the algorithm pulls exercises around your recurring gaps) and your personal Learning Insights, where you get concrete advice on what to practice next and why. The result: mistakes stop being random slip-ups and become the roadmap for what you train.
